Branding is a skill and it can even be considered an art form.
There’s a reason that a Louis Vuitton bag commands an exceptionally high-price–Louis Vuitton is known as an exceptionally high-end brand.
And when you are working hard to get your name out there as an agent, there’s nothing more important to your success than finding the right branding methods.
One of the first ways that you connect with potential clients in the twenty-first century is through your website. It’s no longer a sit down, eat dinner, and shake hands kind of industry.
While wining and dining is still important–your digital home is where clients go first.
Think about it you probably Googled your last plumber, your last caterer, and your son or daughter’s martial arts school.
So wouldn’t it make sense that someone will be visiting you online before they call your office?
Create Your Own “Celebrity”
When you think of my brand, and you view my website you see the cars, the glitz, and the glam of Beverly Hills.
That’s all intentional. While some people don’t like the superficial nature of Hollywood, preferring Runyon Canyon over the Walk of Fame, nature trails don’t elicit the same visceral response in your mind.
Culture has helped to brand Los Angeles in certain ways.
My reaction as an entrepreneur is to leave my own mark on how the local culture has already shaped itself. By playing artist I can create my own mold of how I want to cast my career in real estate.
The secret is that anyone can do this.
The key is to find ways that elevate your branding to a higher level.
Don’t use signs on benches at bus stops, or plaster your name on trash cans, or shopping carts.
These strategies will never get you the branding that you desperately need.
They will create more popularity, but having your face tattooed on a place where people are ashing their cigarettes isn’t going to get you anywhere.
Your Branding Works For You
Ideally, your brand is like hiring a sales agent. It is out there night and day helping to drive you sales and get new prospective leads for clients.
While you are sleeping, your brand is working.
When you are sick, your brand is helping grow your empire for you.
My show is on television 9 months out of the year, which means that I have constant branding that is driving me sales.
Fortunately, you don’t need to get Bravo to sign you to a television deal.
Now anyone can do that by leveraging social media and doing something creative.
Being yourself on your youtube channel or podcast can create an evergreen system of content publication that is always accessible–even years after you’ve put in the work!
Doing what you love and making it an experience, one that touches the hearts and the minds of your audience, is the key to success.
When you can create something that is more than just real estate, your image expands, and people feel like they can actually connect with you on an authentic level.
If you are a local celebrity you can begin to get incoming calls and emails from people who saw you on the local news station, or read about you in the paper.
Finding ways to sponsor a meet and greet at a local coffee shop, or creating networking groups are great ways to do something that doesn’t directly get you clients, but will generate new relationships.
Everyone is an actor in today’s tech-driven world
I’ve put my entire life story out into the public on my television show.
But anyone can do this by creating a name brand for yourself.
The more you become known as a regular in your local scene, or the more you are seen at your child’s school functions, the more connections you will make.
Additionally, you will have one of the key elements to implementing your celebrity–a voice.
Having a voice in the community shows that you care, and when people know you care they will want to know how much you know.
You can use these sorts of interactions to build out an idea for a podcast show or use real questions in your community to create location appropriate video content.
Lots of marketing experts out there are talking about creating shows–and most of them have some type of podcast or youtube channel.
Everyone is creating their own reality today, and it’s especially hot for business right now.
The more that you can engage with your clients before they meet you the better they are going to feel about working with you.
So it’s like you’re creating your own show and putting in social media.
Every time someone views your website or content you are programming them to participate in your brand.
The more they see new content, the more likely they are to stop by and engage with it.
This year I launched my Millionaire Agent Challenge and so far my students have had a lot of success.
Not because they took the challenge, but because they took action on what I shared.
Some of them are already local reality stars in their own areas.
Everyone has an amazing opportunity right now to create a brand that is meaningful. Will you be one of them?
